Your Maker Space is a Community Space
Our goal is to empower educators to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among their students through hands-on making and learning experiences.
Here at TeachShop we know that a rich community space will foster a sense of trust, connection and sustainability. A maker space should be a cooperative and liberatory space.

About Us
Tamekia
Hello, I am an educator and theater artist who enjoys creating connection. I hold a BA in Theatre and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York University, where I focused on storytelling, education, and film.
As a teaching artist, I love to foster community in the classroom and use embodied approaches to create an engaging learning environment.
I enjoy connecting with students to support them in their academic and socio-emotional growth. I am passionate about helping educators integrate the arts into their teaching practices and make education a more inclusive and joy-filled experience for all learners.
In addition to this work, I love to travel and cook.

Hi! I’m a community-centered Educator focused on building ecosystems of community sustainability.
I facilitate and develop curricula to support youth in the exploration of their identities, build creative practices and counter harmful self narratives – primarily through STEAM-based learning experiences.
I focus on fostering community in learning spaces through team oriented projects and multi-modal practices.
I’ve taught in K-12 and professional workshops using various forms of media. I’m a storyteller at heart and I always try to center stories and identity in my educational practice.
